Had to choose between a 12-foot lift rental or building a crazy scaffold for a cathedral ceiling job.
Went with the lift, but the driveway had a 2-inch slope and getting it stable was a 30-minute nightmare. Anyone have a trick for quick leveling on uneven concrete?

My buddy had the exact same problem with a scissor lift on his sloped garage floor. He ended up using a bunch of those composite shims meant for doors and windows, the plastic ones. He drove the lift onto them slowly and they didn't crack under the weight, which was a surprise. Took him a few tries to get the stack height right but it was way faster than messing with wood blocks. He keeps a box in his truck now just for that. Not perfect for every situation but it saved his bacon.

Honestly the part about it being "way faster than wood blocks" is where I disagree. Those plastic shims are a huge slip risk like @kimg57 said, and fumbling with a whole stack of them takes time. A couple of solid oak blocks cut to the right height are way more stable on a slope. You just set them once and you're done, no worrying about them sliding out or cracking later. The plastic might seem faster but it's not worth the safety trade-off in my view.

Hey that's a clever fix! But just a heads up, those plastic shims can get slick if there's any oil or dust on the floor. Might want to check for that before driving up.
