A last-minute drywall gig in the mountains taught me about altitude effects
Got called to a cabin job up in Colorado last week. The high altitude made the mud dry way too fast (like, instantly). Had to adjust my mixing ratios on the fly, which was tricky. Never thought about air pressure affecting drywall before. What do you all do when working in different climates?

I heard that in dry, hot climates, people use cold water to mix the mud to buy more time. (Never tried it myself, though.)

Yeah, reminds me of what @sanchez.mary said about Arizona, stuff just dries out so fast there.

Read about some climate tricks for drywall online once. @theahall is right about the cold water tip for heat, I heard that too. My cousin worked in Arizona and said he basically had to treat the mud like it was going bad any second. Crazy how much plain old weather can mess with your materials.
