Why does nobody talk about the difference a new suction hose made on my old 8-inch dredge in the Sacramento River?
The silt load we moved jumped from maybe 15 cubic yards an hour to over 22 after we swapped out the cracked, old hose for a fresh one, which just proves the obvious stuff you ignore can cost you real money.

Honestly, that's a bigger jump than I'd expect from just a hose.

Yeah, that tracks with what I've seen. A compromised hose creates way more turbulence and drag than you'd think, killing your vacuum. It's one of those simple fixes that feels too obvious to matter until you see the numbers.
