That trick with the water injection on sandy material saved my shift yesterday
I was dredging a shallow spot near Baton Rouge and the sandy bottom kept clogging my suction line every 20 minutes. On a hunch I flipped on a steady water injection port right at the cutter head and it broke the sand up hard. Has anyone else messed with water injection to solve specific material problems on the fly?

That trick with the water injection on sandy material" works because it basically turns the sand into a slurry before it even hits the suction. You can also try pulsing the water injection on and off instead of steady flow, it breaks up clogs without flooding out the cutter.

Pulsing it just invites air into the system and causes cavitation down the line, doesn't it?
