PSA: Remember when dock owners would wave from their porches?

Used to be they'd come down for a quick talk about the silt levels. These days I get an email from the HOA before my boots hit the deck.

Friend tried to ask about the water level. HOA sent a rulebook pdf before he finished talking.

Classic HOA move right there. They probably have the rulebook pdf set as an auto-reply for any question that starts with the word "water." Can't risk giving a real answer when they could just bury you in legalese instead (it's their favorite hobby). My wild guess is the water level rule is on page 87, subsection "Things You Should Already Magically Know.

Ugh, don't even get me started. My HOA once sent me a full page citation because my trash can lid was open exactly three inches (the rule says two inches max, of course). I had to read like fifteen pages of bylaws just to find that one dumb line (I mean, who even measures that?). So getting a whole rulebook PDF for a water question feels totally on brand for them. They love making you do the homework yourself instead of just giving a straight answer. It's like their main power move, honestly.
