Old timer showed me how to read a cutterhead suction gauge at 3am on a job in Mobile
He said 'son, if that needle's bouncing more than 2 psi, you're about to bury the ladder' and I thought he was crazy until I saw the ladder start to sink 10 minutes later, has anyone else had an operator pull something like that on them?

He was saving your life. That 2 psi rule is about cavitation burying the cutterhead.

Yeah that 2 psi thing catches a lot of people off guard out there.
