Just realized a lot of new guys don't flush the lines right before winter

Been seeing a bunch of posts about frozen cutterheads lately and it's making me wonder. I'm up in Duluth and if you don't run the antifreeze mix through every single valve and fitting before it drops below 20, you're gonna have a bad time. I've had to rebuild two pumps over the years because I got lazy one October and skipped a few steps. Anyone else notice newer operators skipping the full flush and just draining the main line?

Are they just not trained on it or are they in that "it's fine till it breaks" mindset? Got a guy on my shift who swears draining's good enough until I show him the ice plug in the bypass line.

That 'it's fine till it breaks' mindset is way too common, they just don't see the hidden damage until it's too late.

Started keeping a Polaroid in the toolbox for that exact reason. Taking a photo of the ice plug and showing it to the guy the next morning shut down the argument real fast.
