I found a weird way to clear a clogged cutter head that actually worked on the Ohio River last week

Sometimes you just gotta get creative with the tools you have on hand. We used a high-pressure water hose from the deck pump to back-flush the intake, and it popped right loose. It's amazing what works when you're out on the water and can't just run to the shop.

And honestly, it makes you wonder if all these specialized tools we buy are really necessary or if they're mostly just time-savers. That deck pump trick is a perfect example of knowing how your system actually works (which is usually more valuable than having the "right" tool). A lot of the best fixes I've seen came from someone who just understood the physics of what was going on and worked backward from there.

That "get creative with what you have" thing is SO true for way more than boats. I see it all the time with people fixing stuff around their house with random junk from the garage.
