Dropped $600 on a submersible pump for our dredge and it failed in 3 weeks

I thought I was being smart buying a nice pump from a brand I knew. Paid $600 for it figuring it would last a full season easy. Third week into the job it just gave out, started making a grinding noise and then nothing. Took it apart and found a seal had blown, water got into the motor housing. Now I'm stuck renting a replacement while I wait for warranty to process. Anyone else had bad luck with pumps that were supposed to be top of the line?

Blew a seal in three weeks" sounds about right, I've noticed cheap seals are everywhere now, on everything from pumps to my sink faucet.

Did you ever have one of those cheap plastic faucet handles that just snaps off in your hand? I had a friend who replaced his kitchen faucet seal three times in one month, finally gave up and just used duct tape to hold the handle on. He said it looked ghetto but at least it didn't leak. I think the real problem is these companies use rubber that's basically recycled flip flops or something. My grandfather had a faucet from the 70s that still has its original seal, never leaked once.
