Switching from manual drafting to CAD - did it kill your speed or save your sanity?

I had to pick between sticking with my old drafting board for a residential project in Austin or going full Revit after the client asked for 3D renders. I chose Revit and it took me 3 extra days to finish because I kept fighting the software. Anyone else find that the learning curve almost cost them a deadline?

Oh man, that Austin project sounds rough. I get what you mean about the learning curve being brutal. But here's the thing I gotta ask - did you try setting up your own template beforehand or just jump straight into the drawing? Because I've seen a lot of folks waste days messing with default settings that don't match how they actually draft.

I honestly think the bigger problem people miss is the file organization side of things. Like even with a perfect template if you're dumping everything into one massive drawing file with no layers or blocks you're gonna hit a wall hard. I saw a guy lose 6 hours just trying to find a stupid annotation he'd buried somewhere. Start with a clear folder structure and naming system before you even open the software, saves so much headache later.
