My boss told me to stop using a 0.5mm lead for everything, and I finally listened

He said it was slowing me down on large format site plans, and I argued my lines were cleaner. After a month of forcing myself to use a 0.7mm for layouts on a big industrial park job, I finished the base drawing a full day faster. The thicker lead didn't smudge as much on the vellum either, which was a surprise. Anyone else have a stubborn habit they changed that actually paid off?

Saw my buddy fight his boss over using red pens for markups, same vibe as @cora365 sticking with 0.5 for details. He finally switched to blue and realized corrections stood out way more for the whole team.

A full day faster on one drawing is pretty wild. Honestly sounds like your boss was just nitpicking at first. I still use a 0.5 for all my detail work, wouldn't change that.
