Lost a whole day of drafting when my old plotter jammed on a 50 sheet set

My HP Designjet T120 ate a roll of velum around 3pm Tuesday and I spent 4 hours cleaning dried ink out of the rollers. Anyone else still running these dinosaur plotters or am I the only one too cheap to upgrade?

Is it really that big of a deal though? I mean, yeah it sucks to lose a day but 4 hours of cleaning seems like a lot. Maybe you just need to be more careful loading the roll next time. Those old plotters are tanks, they can take a beating. I still use a T120 myself and it jams maybe once a year, tops. Just set your paper tension right and keep the dust off the feed wheels. Unless you're running some super heavy media, its probably just operator error.

You're probably right that it's often operator error, but the whole tone of that feels like the same mindset that blames people for getting sick instead of fixing the drafty window." The real issue is we're all so used to just dealing with things breaking that we forget they shouldn't break that often in the first place.
