I was drafting a simple floor plan for a garage in Phoenix and my boss asked why I was still using the 2018 template.

Man, that reminds me of my old landlord who refused to update anything. He was still using a 1990s paper ledger for rent payments. The garage door opener was from the Carter administration, I swear. Some people just find a system that works and stick with it forever, even when it's clearly falling apart.

Honestly, if the old system still gets the job done, why mess with it? New tech breaks all the time, but that paper ledger probably never crashed or got hacked. Maybe the guy just values something that works over something that's just shiny and new. Isn't there something to be said for not fixing what isn't actually broken?

Yeah but "never crashed or got hacked" is a low bar, @josephc59. That paper ledger can get lost, burned, or just become totally useless when the person who knows the system is gone. New tech needs upkeep, but so does old stuff, people just forget that part.
