Does anyone else's AutoCAD keep crashing during simple hatch fills?

I was working on a floor plan for a commercial build in Dallas yesterday and the software locked up three times just trying to add a basic diagonal hatch pattern. Lost about 20 minutes of work each time because I forgot to hit save. Anybody got a fix for this or is it just Autodesk being Autodesk again?

Try turning off hardware acceleration in the settings menu. That fixed the constant crashing for me on big hatch patterns about a year ago and I haven't seen the issue since. Also check if your graphics drivers are up to date, AutoCAD is real picky about that stuff especially with AMD cards in my experience. Your mileage may vary but I'd also suggest drawing your hatches on a separate layer and turning off dynamic input before you start. One more thing, save every time before you even think about running the hatch command, I know it's annoying but it becomes a habit after the fourth crash.

Respectfully I gotta disagree with @michael_bennett11 on the hardware acceleration thing. Tried that fix a while back on a similar project and it actually made my hatches load twice as slow on large floor plans. Plain and simple, AutoCAD 2025 just hates certain hatch patterns on this build. My suggestion is stick to solid fills or simple ANSI patterns if you can. The diagonal ones with tight spacing are usually the culprit when I see it freeze up.
