Update: the $4 shelf bracket that changed how I clamp

Honestly Ive been building workbenches for like 8 years and always bolted my bench top down with lag screws. Last Tuesday I was working on a bench in my garage in Akron and my drill died halfway through. I was too lazy to go get another one so I grabbed these cheap shelf brackets I had laying around from a garage sale. I screwed the top onto four of them instead and it took me like 10 minutes total. Now I can flip the whole top over in under a minute to replace a worn out insert or run a router plane. What convinced me was when I tore down an old bench my dad made in the 90s and saw he just used loose L brackets underneath. That thing lasted 30 years without a single bolt. Has anyone else ditched rigid fasteners for simple brackets on their main work surface? I'm wondering if there's a downside I'm missing for heavier jointing work.
