Dogma about pegboard died after I saw a guy use French cleats for everything
For 20 years I swore pegboard was the only way to hang tools, then my neighbor in Spokane showed me a cleat system holding up a 200 lb workbench top he built in 1987. Now I'm tearing down my own pegboard this weekend, anyone else make the switch and regret losing the quick move-ability?
That line about the 200 lb workbench top hanging since 1987 really got me, cause that's the whole point right there. A cleat doesn't just hold stuff, it holds real weight for decades and you can still pull a whole shelf off in two seconds when you need to. Honestly the quick move thing might be better on cleats, since you lift up and out instead of fighting those little hooks.
