Wasted $40 on a screen repair kit for my phone...
I bought one of those glass-only repair kits off Amazon for my cracked iPhone screen. Followed every step in the video, even used the UV light for the full 5 minutes. The glass went on fine but the touch stopped working in the corner after a week. Had to take it to a shop and pay $80 for a proper replacement anyway... has anyone actually had luck with those DIY glass-only kits?

Huh, I always thought it was just the glass, never knew about that touch layer thing.

Honestly, the real problem with those glass-only kits is that most people don't realize the touch sensor is actually a separate layer glued to the LCD underneath. When you're peeling off the old glass, you're basically wrestling with that thin film, and if you stretch it even a little bit in the corner, it breaks the circuit and you lose touch sensitivity forever. Ngl, I watched a repair tech explain it on YouTube and it finally clicked why my first attempt failed the same way yours did. You'd basically need a soldering iron and a steady hand to fix that corner issue, which totally defeats the purpose of a DIY kit.
