Vent: My brother told me to just 'tap the back' of my phone to fix the camera...
He swore his old Pixel 3's blurry lens was fixed that way. I tried it for a week, tapping it every time the camera app opened. Nothing changed. Finally, I opened it up and found a tiny piece of lint stuck right on the sensor inside. A quick blast of canned air and it was perfect. Has anyone else gotten weirdly specific advice that just made things worse?

So your brother was just randomly tapping the back of his phone and it actually worked that one time? What kind of weird luck is that, and did he ever figure out what was actually loose in there? I feel like those super specific fixes just make people waste so much time when the real problem is usually something simple.

Used to think that too, but watching him fix it by tapping the back changed my mind. He said a ribbon cable was just loose.

What if the ribbon cable was only loose because of a swollen battery pushing it out? That tap might have just jiggled things back into a temporary spot before it fails again. You'd never know until the real damage shows up later.
