Saw a cracked MacBook screen at a coffee shop in Austin that gave me an idea

I was at Fleet Coffee on East 6th last weekend and this guy next to me had a 2015 MacBook with a spiderweb crack in the corner. He said Apple quoted him $600 for a replacement. I told him about a $40 digitizer I found on eBay for that exact model and walked him through swapping it in about 20 minutes at his table. Has anyone else found good deals on older Mac parts that saved you from throwing out a perfectly good laptop?

Oh absolutely, nothing screams "premium coffee experience" like cracking open a laptop on a sticky table next to someone's half-eaten pastry. Real talk though, Apple charging $600 for a screen on a laptop worth maybe $400 is classic robbery with a side of 'planned obsolescence' coffee. Gotta love when DIY repairs turn a paperweight into a perfectly functional machine for the price of a nice dinner.

But isn't that $600 screen actually worth it if you value the engineering and ecosystem...?
