Rant: Paid $40 for a magnetic parts tray and it couldn't hold a single screw

I bought this magnetic tray from a hardware store last month thinking it would help with my phone repairs. First use, I dropped a tiny screw on it and the magnet was so weak the screw slid right off onto my carpet. Lost the screw for two hours and had to finish the fix with a different size. Has anyone found a magnetic tray that actually works without breaking the bank?

Maybe the tray is fine but the magnet strength is designed for people who actually lose screws on purpose so they buy more. Try sticking a couple of those freebie fridge magnets under it before spending more cash. That cheap trick works way better than any $40 tray I've tried.

Used a stack of old business cards under mine to boost it up closer to the surface, worked like a charm and cost zero dollars.
