Hot take: I used to think opening a phone was a job for a pro shop, not my kitchen table
For years, I'd just take a cracked screen to the mall kiosk and pay the 80 bucks. Last month, my old Pixel 4a screen went dark but the phone still vibrated. I watched a 15 minute guide on iFixit, ordered a 35 dollar screen kit, and followed the steps with a hair dryer and a guitar pick. It took about an hour and the new screen works perfectly. I'm never paying for a simple screen swap again. Has anyone else tried a repair they thought was too hard and been surprised?

Saw a video about right to repair laws making this way more common now. The guides really do make it seem less scary.

Oh totally, @perry.jessica. It's wild how much those laws changed the game. Before, even opening up a device felt like you were breaking some secret rule. Now with good guides, you realize most fixes are just a few screws and a careful hand. It makes you wonder what else we could fix if companies just gave us the basic info.

Honestly it's about time. Remember when replacing an iPhone battery felt like defusing a bomb? Now you can find a clear video for that and for fixing a laptop fan. It takes the mystery out and puts the power back in your hands. Companies just don't want you to know how simple some of this stuff really is.
