Vent: I used to just nail together any scrap wood for a desk frame, but after my 4th wobbly setup in 2 years I finally spent $40 on proper joist hangers and brackets from Ace Hardware last month and now I can actually type without my monitor shaking.

The difference is night and day, the old way felt solid for about a week then sagged like a cheap shelf, has anyone else switched to metal connectors after fighting with crooked screws too many times?

Oh man, that's a solid upgrade! My buddy Mark tried the scrap wood route for his gaming setup and his monitor would wobble every time he got into a firefight in Valorant. He finally caved and bought those brackets after his 3rd attempt and now he swears by them. Said the first time he leaned on his desk after installing them it felt like a rock compared to the janky stuff he had before. It's wild how a few dollars in proper metal can save you from that sinking feeling when your keyboard tray starts tilting.

I don't know @uma_baker99, I've got a buddy who's been using the same scrap wood setup for five years and his monitor hasn't moved an inch... feels like people just want an excuse to buy brackets sometimes.
