Tried using velcro strips instead of zip ties for cable management under my desk
I got tired of cutting zip ties every time I needed to swap out a cable or move my monitor. So I grabbed a roll of adhesive velcro strips from the dollar store for $3. Just stuck a few strips along the underside of my desk and wrapped each cable bundle with the loop side. Now I can pull a cable out in seconds without hunting for snips. Has anyone else found a cheap fix that made reorganizing way easier?

I did the same thing about six months ago and it's one of those small changes that makes a bigger difference than you'd expect. The dollar store velcro holds up fine in my experience, just make sure you clean the desk surface with rubbing alcohol before sticking it on so it doesn't peel off in the summer heat. One thing I learned the hard way is to leave a little slack in the wrap so you can still slide cables in and out without having to unstick the whole strip. Also helps to color code them if you've got a bunch of different cables back there, black for monitor, white for phone charger, that kind of thing.

Oh man, I was totally the opposite for years. I always thought zip ties were the only way to keep things tidy and swore by them for cable management. But after the third time I had to crawl under my desk with wire cutters just to move a USB cable, I finally gave the velcro strips a shot. Now I'm kicking myself for not switching sooner. It's just so much more practical when you want to make a quick change without fighting with plastic.
