Tried to flip my desk into a standing desk with concrete blocks
Was in my garage last Saturday stacking four cinder blocks under each leg, got to the third stack and the whole thing tipped sideways. My monitor slid off and cracked the corner, so now I'm back to sitting and using a $20 Amazon riser that sags in the middle. Anyone else have a DIY standing desk fail that ended up costing more than just buying one?

The concrete block thing always looks so solid in the YouTube tutorials but nobody accounts for the desk wobble when you bump into it mid-sentence. Monster brand makes a cheap rubber mat that people use under washing machines to stop vibration, throwing that under the blocks might have kept everything stable. Still, that crack in your monitor is the real killer since a decent used screen on Facebook Marketplace is probably forty bucks now. Lesson learned, I guess gravity always wins against cinder blocks.

Friend of mine tried using those interlocking foam floor mats instead of rubber. Ended up with his whole rig doing the wave every time he typed.
