That "quick" cable management tray install that ate my whole Sunday

I thought I could knock out a simple under-desk cable tray in 30 minutes, but I spent 6 hours trying to find the right wood screws for my metal frame. Anyone else have a simple desk upgrade turn into a multi-hour headache?

Started looking for a drill bit and ended up reorganizing the entire garage instead.

Been there. The trick is to keep a small box of random machine screws and bolts from old furniture or hardware store packs. I swear by those little plastic organizers with the flip lids. Also, if you're working with a metal frame, grab some self-tapping screws specifically for metal studs, they bite into the frame way better than wood screws. Saves you from the whole garage reorganization spiral.
