Spent 4 hours fighting a wobbly IKEA desk leg and the fix was a 50 cent washer
I built this desk from a $30 marketplace haul and the back left leg wobbled like crazy, so I tightened every screw, added a brace, even shimmed it with a folded pizza box. Turned out the metal plate was missing one tiny washer, and once I dug one out of my junk drawer it sat rock solid. Has anyone else chased a wobble for way too long before finding something that dumb?
For years I was the guy who would just crank every bolt tighter and call it fixed, figured wobble always meant loose screws. Then my brother pointed out that a missing washer lets the whole plate flex just enough to rock, and the screw can feel tight the whole time. I dug through my coffee can of random hardware and found one that fit, and yeah, solid as a rock after that. Now I check for missing parts first before I start over-tightening stuff.
