Just spent 6 hours sanding and refinishing a used desk top only to find a nasty crack I missed
Tbh I was so focused on making it smooth I didn't even notice the crack until I wiped it down with stain. Has anyone else hidden a flaw like that and just filled it with wood glue?

That's rough... @karen_nelson40's sawdust trick sounds like a solid save for that.

My cousin actually had the same thing happen with a table he spent like 8 hours on. He just mixed wood glue with some sawdust from the same piece and pressed it in there, then sanded it down after it dried. I used to think you HAD to fully replace or cut out any crack, but seeing his results totally changed my mind. The fix was barely visible even with stain, just a tiny line that looked like wood grain. Now I always keep fine sawdust from my projects for exactly this kind of repair.
