I finally stopped fighting the mic stand clamp and drilled into my desk

Went back and forth for two weekends between building a riser arm from PVC or just cutting a hole for the boom. Picked the drill route with a 2 inch spade bit on my old workbench top, and now the mic drops straight down clean. Has anyone else given up on clamps and just committed to modifying their actual desk surface?
