Can we talk about how plywood beat the IKEA top for my 6 foot desk
Spent $38 on a 3/4 inch sanded plywood sheet at the lumber yard after my $80 IKEA top sagged in the middle under two monitors in about 5 months, and a year later the plywood hasn't bowed a bit, so has anyone else ditched the particle board route for good?
My buddy did the same thing but with a solid core door from the Habitat ReStore for like $25, cut it down and mounted some pipe legs on it. Thing weighs a ton but you could probably park a car on it. The particle board stuff is fine if you never plan on moving it or putting anything heavy in the middle. Once it sags there's really no coming back from it either.
