Bought a $140 sit-stand frame, legs rub and wobble at full height

I grabbed a budget motorized frame from an auction site and spent a full Sunday mounting my top, only to find the left leg scrapes the crossbar past 30 inches. Support says it's within spec but my old $40 hand crank setup was more solid. Anyone else had a converter kit fail on them and did you mod it or just eat the loss?
