Unpopular take: I went with a transparent shell swap for my Switch instead of a full LED light mod

Everyone in my local mod group kept pushing the RGB internal light kits for the Switch. I mean they look cool in photos but I went with a simple clear atomic purple shell swap from a kit I got for $22 on eBay. No lights no batteries no soldering. I just swapped the backplate and joycon shells in an afternoon. The purple looks amazing when the screen is on and I don't have to worry about wires coming loose. Has anyone else tried a shell swap and just left it plain?

That $22 kit surprised me, the plastic feels just as solid as the original shells and the screw holes lined up perfectly without any filing or trimming. I'm about six months in now and the purple has held up great, no fading or cracking even with me swapping out the joycons on the regular. Only tiny issue is the backplate has a slight seam line near the kickstand cutout, but you really have to look for it to notice.

Oh man, the atomic purple is a killer choice. How's the quality on that $22 kit holding up after a few months of use?
