My friend told me to always pack a universal plug adapter, but I left mine in Bangkok
Had to buy three separate ones over two weeks in Europe. Anyone have a go-to brand that's small and reliable?

Universal ones are actually pretty hit or miss.

Ever think about the voltage? Like @ericgonzalez said, universal ones can be hit or miss. But some just handle the power change better. My old one got super hot in the UK. Now I check the wattage rating before I buy. A small one that can't handle a hair dryer is worse than useless.

Read a travel blog that said the cheap ones often skip the surge protection. They recommended looking for a specific fuse rating, like 6.3 amps. Makes sense if you're plugging in a laptop charger.
