My coworker in Medellin made me question why I even travel

I was grabbing coffee with this guy from Germany at Selina in Medellin last month and he just flat out said 'you know you're just working from a different chair, right?' It hit me hard because I've been hopping cities for 2 years and honestly my routine is the same everywhere. Cafe, laptop, slack, bed, repeat. He said he was going back to Berlin to save for a house and I couldn't even argue with him. Has anyone else had that moment where they wonder if the whole nomad thing is just a way to avoid settling down?

Man I see this all the time in my 20s coworkers. They drop 400 bucks on a weekend trip somewhere but then complain they can't afford to move out of their parents' place. It's like we got hooked on this idea that experiences matter more than stability. But I've watched people in my neighborhood buy homes by skipping just a few of those trips and putting that money away instead. The freedom of owning something beats a few days of fun in a new city any day.
