I thought the whole 'digital nomad visa' thing for Portugal was just hype until I actually applied and got approved in under 30 days, which completely changed my tax planning.
Has anyone else had a visa process go way smoother than expected, or did you find the reality was a bureaucratic nightmare that made you reconsider a destination?

That's wild, Portugal really seems to be streamlining things. My friend had a similar shock with Spain's digital nomad visa, got it sorted in like six weeks with a lawyer's help. It makes you wonder which countries are actually getting their act together to attract remote workers, and which ones just have nice websites but a mountain of paperwork behind them. The difference between a smooth process and a nightmare really can make or break your whole move.

Yeah, the "nice websites but a mountain of paperwork" part is the real trap.

I mean, my cousin tried going through Estonia's digital nomad setup because their site made it look so easy. Idk, she ended up needing some document from her old college that took a month to get mailed, and the whole thing just fell apart. It's crazy how one little hiccup can totally wreck the vibe.
