I stopped paying for coworking passes in Lisbon and my work got better, here is the math
I spent 180 euros on a hot desk pass in Lisbon for two weeks and got maybe 6 hours of real work done the whole time. The wifi kept dropping during calls and the espresso machine was louder than my own thoughts. So I switched to a 4 euro coffee at a tiny pastelaria near my Airbnb and something weird happened. Nobody there spoke English, so I couldn't chat, and I knocked out more in 3 days than in those 14. I think the whole "coworking is where nomads get stuff done" thing is mostly just paying to feel productive. The real trick is finding a spot where you can't be distracted. Where do you all actually get your best work done when you land somewhere new?
Ha, yes! I did the same thing in Medellin, ditched the fancy coworking spot after a week and just posted up in a bakery where the lady kept refilling my tinto for like a dollar. Nobody bugged me and I got way more done, so yeah, boring beats cool every time.
