Hot take: coworking spaces in Chiang Mai are overrated

I worked out of Punspace in Nimman for 3 weeks last month. Constant noise from people taking Zoom calls at full volume. Paid $150 for a monthly pass and got less done than at my hostel lobby. Anyone else find actual cafes work better for focus?

Oh man, this hits hard. I had almost the same thing happen at your exact spot last month. Couldn't believe how loud it was with people just shouting into their laptops like they were at a club. Paid for a whole month and ended up hiding at a little cafe called Ristr8to on the corner instead. Way better vibe for getting into the zone, no one bothers you, and the coffee is actually good. These coworking places just feel like they're selling the idea of productivity more than the real thing.

Yeah but @abby189 you're totally right about Ristr8to, that place is legit. I actually think the whole coworking thing in Chiang Mai is a trap for people who just wanna feel like they're "working abroad" without actually grinding. Punspace specifically feels like a wework clone jammed into a Thai strip mall, the wifi drops every 20 minutes and half the outlets are loose lol. If you really need to lock in, just hit up a quiet corner at any local coffee shop for like 60 baht and you're golden, no monthly pass needed. The real move is finding a spot with thick walls and cheap iced lattes, not paying for a "community" that's mostly just distractions.
