Hit my 30th country in Chiang Mai and honestly the number felt empty, so which side are you on?
I started counting countries back in 2019 mostly as a fun way to track my travel, and touching down in Chiang Mai made it 30. Here is the weird part, I sat in a cafe on Nimman Road waiting for a client call and felt nothing, just tired and kind of numb about the whole thing. Some folks I met at a coworking spot say the count is the point, it pushes you to keep moving and see new places you would never pick on your own. Others say chasing numbers turns travel into a checklist and you end up skimming cities instead of actually living in them for a bit. I can see both sides now, because 30 sounds impressive at dinner but I barely remember a whole month of it. So where do you land, is a country count a real goal or just a scoreboard nobody else cares about?
