Got completely ghosted by a client in Chiang Mai after 3 weeks of work

I was in Chiang Mai last month doing social media management for a small ecommerce brand. We had a solid routine going, daily check ins, clear deadlines, everything seemed fine. Then one Monday morning I sent my weekly report and got nothing back. No reply Tuesday, no reply Wednesday, emails bouncing by Friday. I ended up eating 2 weeks of unpaid work because I didn't have a proper contract in place. Has anyone else had a client just disappear like that? What do you do to protect yourself?

... bought a domain once and the guy vanished mid-transfer too.

honestly though is it really that big of a deal? @abby308 i mean yeah it's annoying but you probably just lost out on a few bucks and moved on. people ghost all the time in these small deals, not exactly the crime of the century. how much was the domain anyway?

guy vanished mid-transfer" happened to me too. Bet it's the same middleman reselling domains they don't actually own.
