Best week and worst week in Bangkok - two totally different trips

Last March I had a killer week in Bangkok. Found this quiet co-working space near Ari station for $3 a day (unlimited coffee, real AC, nobody selling you tours). Every evening I'd grab street food from a lady who made the best pad see ew I've ever had, $1.50 per plate. Then I came back in July - same city, completely different experience. My usual co-working was closed for renovations, the street food lady was on vacation somewhere, and I ended up in this loud tourist area paying $8 for a lukewarm latte with bad wifi. Plus a monsoon flooded half the sidewalks. Two trips, same city, one felt like heaven and the other like a total bust. Has anyone else had a place flip on them like that between visits? What made the difference for you?

I get what you're saying but I kind of think the city didn't flip on you, you just got unlucky the second time. The co-working being closed and your street food lady being gone are random bad luck, not Bangkok changing. I've been back to the same spot in Chiang Mai four times now and one trip the power went out every afternoon and another a new hostel opened next door blasting music till midnight. The city itself was still great, I just hit bad timing. Doesn't that just mean the location is still solid underneath the bad week?
