Went to the public library to unplug, ended up watching people doomscroll for an hour
I drove 20 minutes to the main branch downtown thinking I'd finally get some quiet reading time without my phone. Sat in the periodicals section and counted 9 out of 12 people just staring at their screens. Not reading ebooks either, I could see they were flipping through social feeds. The library used to be my escape from all that and now it feels like everyone brought the noise with them. Has anyone else noticed public spaces getting harder to actually unplug in? I'm thinking of trying a coffee shop with no wifi next but that feels impossible to find these days.
