Update: Unsubscribing from daily deal emails actually saved me money

I used to think those daily deal emails were a good way to catch sales. But last week I counted 47 unread emails from just one store in my inbox. I finally hit unsubscribe and two things happened: my inbox dropped by 20% and I stopped impulse buying $15 gadgets. I realized those emails were making me spend more, not save. Has anyone else noticed their wallet gets lighter just from reading those subject lines?

47 unread emails is actually pretty mild. I had over 200 from one brand before I finally unsubbed. Those daily deals work exactly like casinos do - they keep you checking. Getting off those lists is the real way to save.
