Two email apps later, I finally picked the boring one with zero features

Honestly, I spent 4 weeks flip-flopping between a fancy AI inbox and a basic app that just sorts by sender. I picked the simple one after my calendar invite got buried in a smart folder twice. Now my inbox shows 40 unread messages in plain order, and I actually reply within a day instead of guilt-skipping everything. The AI one felt cool but added an extra 10 minutes of swiping through 'priority' piles that were never right. Has anyone else tried ditching the smart tools for a barebones list view and stuck with it? I'm curious if that lasts past the first month.

wait, 40 unread in a day? that's not exactly barebones, that's just not drowning. i did the same switch last year after my "smart" app kept filing my mom's texts under "newsletters" for some reason. the plain list is honestly fine, you just gotta accept that your read receipts and folders are gone. the only thing that got me in month two was realizing my old app was silently fixing my typos, so now i read everything twice before hitting send.
