That week I turned off notifications for three days straight in Seattle

I was visiting my sister in Seattle last fall and left my phone on airplane mode for almost 72 hours... no texts, no emails, no alerts. By day two I felt this weird calm I hadn't felt in years, like my brain finally stopped buzzing. When I turned it back on I had 47 unread messages, but honestly only 3 were actually important. Has anyone else tried a full digital fast like that and noticed a real difference?

Oh man, I gotta respectfully disagree here. In my experience, that "weird calm" usually just gets replaced with anxiety about what you're missing once you turn your phone back on and see that pile of messages waiting for you. Your mileage may vary but to me it feels more like putting off the stress than actually getting rid of it.

Yeah, that's a really good point actually.
