Just realized my phone was the reason I couldn't focus at coffee shops
Was at a cafe in Portland last week and noticed everyone else was just sitting there reading or talking while I kept checking my phone every 2 minutes. Put it in my bag face down and actually got through 3 chapters of a book. Anyone else notice how much harder it is to concentrate when your phone is sitting on the table?

Honestly disagree with this take. My phone is how I stay productive at cafes - I'm reading articles, checking work emails, and looking up stuff I don't know. Its not a distraction its a tool. People blame their phones way too much when really they just have bad self control. If you cant focus with your phone in front of you then the problem is you not the device. Plus half the people reading physical books in Portland are just pretending to be intellectual anyway.

Oh totally. I swear my focus goes to zero if that thing is even in my line of sight.
