I thought those phone jail apps were a scam, then my screen time went from 6 hours to 90 minutes
I laughed at my sister when she put a lockbox timer on her phone last month. Then I tried a free app called One Sec that makes you take a breath before opening social apps. Two weeks later my daily average dropped from 6 hours and 20 minutes to 90 minutes, and I did not even delete anything. I mostly stopped picking up the phone out of habit, which I did not think was possible. Has anyone tried a physical timer lockbox instead, and did it stick after the first week?
One Sec did the same thing for me. My pickups went from like 80 a day to 25 and I never deleted a single app. The pause before opening is what kills the habit because you actually have to decide instead of just tapping on autopilot.
I tried a cheap timer lockbox for about 3 weeks. It worked at first but then I started just leaving the phone out or "forgetting" to lock it, so the app approach stuck way better for me.
