Hit 2,347 unread emails this morning and felt my chest tighten

Logged into my personal account to find a single thing and saw that number staring back at me - I deleted 800 in one sitting just to get it under 2k. Has anyone else tried the unsubscribe binges and actually stuck with them for more than a week?

oh tell me about it, i did the whole unroll.me thing a couple years back and felt like a genius for about two weeks. then slowly but surely the subscriptions creep back in because you need to reset a password for something or you buy one thing and suddenly youre signed up for their entire marketing list again. its like fighting a losing battle honestly, i just gave up and started flagging everything as spam instead.

3 emails in the last hour from "Pet Supplies Unlimited" because I looked at a dog bed once in 2023. The unsubscribe link takes you to a page that loads for 30 seconds and then says "you are now unsubscribed" but spoiler alert, you absolutely are not. My favorite is the ones that require you to log in to unsubscribe (like okay, let me just remember my password for that one time I bought a t-shirt in 2019). I've gone full scorched earth too, spam folder is basically just my junk drawer at this point.
