Finding old phone bills from 2014 made me realize how much I used to print

I was cleaning out my filing cabinet last month and found a stack of Verizon bills from 3 years ago. Each one was like 12 pages long and had all these line item charges for ringtones and text messages. Now I just screenshot everything and toss it, feels way cleaner.

I get what you're saying @terryb11 about having a paper trail, but there's another angle I never see mentioned. Those old bills with their crazy long lists of charges actually helped catch errors all the time. I once found a $40 charge for a service I never signed up for just by flipping through the pages. Now with autopay and paperless billing, I bet a lot of people are paying for stuff they don't even realize they're being charged for month after month. The printed bills forced you to look at the details, but now it's way too easy to just glance at the total and move on.

A paper trail is still a good thing to have. All those screenshots live in the cloud somewhere and if you ever need to prove a payment or dispute a charge, good luck finding that file in five years. A physical invoice sitting in a folder is hard to argue with when the cable company says you never paid. Plus, those old bills are basically a time capsule of your terrible ringtone taste, which is pure comedy gold.
