Deleted social apps off my phone for 9 days on a cabin trip near Boone and the quiet was weird
I went to a friend's cabin outside Boone, NC for 9 days and there was basically no signal, so my phone turned into a paperweight. First two days I kept picking it up out of habit, like a phantom buzz thing, probably checked a dead screen 30 times. By day 4 I noticed I was reading a paperback for 2 hours straight without stopping, which I had not done since high school. The weird part was coming home, because my inbox had 412 new emails and I did not care about 400 of them. I sat down and unsubscribed from 23 mailing lists in one sitting, which felt better than any app I have tried. My screen time report went from 6 hours a day to 2.5 after I got back, mostly because I stopped opening stuff I do not need. Has anyone else done a full offline stretch and had the return to normal feel worse than the trip itself?
