Unpopular opinion: that week-long digital art challenge actually wrecked my workflow

Spent all last week on a daily prompt challenge and by day 4 my colors got muddy, layers were a mess, and I realized I was rushing to post instead of actually finishing anything, has anyone else felt like these challenges do more harm than good?

Wait, aren't you supposed to push past your comfort zone to actually grow as an artist? I did that same challenge and my consistency improved like crazy, I had to let go of perfectionism which honestly helped me finish more pieces in a week than I did all month before. The time limit forced me to make quick decisions instead of noodling over details forever, which is a trap I fall into constantly (like, endlessly). My colors got muddy too on day 3 but I just leaned into it as a learning moment, now I know exactly when to step back and clean my palette. Plus the community feedback I got from posting daily was super motivating, way more than just sitting alone on my tablet.

God the "noodling over details forever" thing hit me right in the gut, I have wasted so many hours doing that. Thanks for sharing your experience though, it makes me feel less alone in the struggle lol.
