Swapped my Wacom for an iPad Pro 3 years ago and my wrist finally forgave me
I used to draw everything on a Cintiq 22 with a 5-year-old desktop setup. After 8 hours of digital painting, my right wrist would ache for days. I switched to an iPad Pro in 2021 after a friend let me try hers for an afternoon. Now I can sit on the couch or at a coffee shop and still get the same line quality. The pressure sensitivity is close enough that I don't miss the Cintiq much. Anyone else made the jump from a desktop tablet to an iPad and found it changed your workflow way more than you expected?

Does the iPad overheat faster than your Cintiq did?

Wait, is that really a problem people are having? Mine gets warm if I'm charging and drawing at the same time but it's never been bad enough to actually stop me from working.

That "never been bad enough to actually stop me from working" part is interesting, @casey393. I actually saw a review on YouTube where the guy had to stop using his iPad in the middle of drawing because it got so hot it was uncomfortable on his lap. He said it happened even when he wasn't charging, just from using Procreate with a heavy brush. So it might depend on what you're drawing or which apps you run. I've also heard the new M4 chip models handle heat a little better, but not everyone agrees on that.
